I snapped this photo the other day of my papillon Roofuss. Noticing the contentment—the total lack of care—in her restfulness brought to mind the verse from Psalms to “Rest in the Lord.” I’m not trying to compare dogs to people here, but there’s something to be said for that level of complete peace and trust. It’s the message that God has given us, right up there with “Be still and know that I am God.” Be still. Listen. Rest. Know. My dog may not be the ultimate example in describing Sacred Scripture but she does give me “paws” (sorry, couldn’t resist that!) when I catch her sleeping so soundly. Truly at rest because she trusts that she is safe in my company and care. If I could only be more in tune with God that way.
