House Cleaning

I’m having company this weekend. In preparation, this morning I did a quick clean up of the kitchen, shaking out the crumbs in the toaster, wiping off the counters, washing dishes, emptying the trash and recycle, and then vacuuming the floors.

What I realized is that I always do these tasks in a certain order, cleaning from top to bottom in my process: raised surfaces first, then middle areas before low ones.

It made me wonder about how I prepare myself for God. Am I as thorough in my approach? Do I keep Him in my mind? On my lips? In my heart?

Sometimes I need to shake out the debris of life, like I do my toaster, and empty the crumbs that collect inside me, so I can put priorities back in order.

Question: Where are the crumbs collecting in your spiritual life?
